The Mixed Tape

Another Horror Remake. by Nolan Wilson Goff

Recently, there has been a terrible trend in Hollywood. The money grubbing executives have fallen victim to a most detestable act: remakes and sequels.

Horror films have experienced the brunt of these remakes as of late – Friday the 13th, The Last House on the Left, to name a few – and they rarely match the quality of the originals. Here is the trailer for the next American horror classic remake –

A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Starring Jackie Earle Haley, as legendary Freddy Krueger, I actually couldn’t be any more excited for this remake. Albeit, I am not an expert on horror films, I am looking forward to where Haley can take the character. Haley is one of the most talented, yet underrated, actors in Hollywood. The cast also includes Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights) and Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption, The Informant!).

For once, I have faith in a remake, thanks to the talented cast.

What do you think about this trailer? And, should Hollywood be remaking classic American films?

P.S. If you havn’t seen Watchmen, check it out. Haley’s performance is without a doubt Oscar worthy.

I think it looks pretty good. I’m stoked that Haley is Kruger, he won’t disappoint. Although, I think Hollywood should be slowing their roll on remaking horror classics along with other movies. They are losing originality, so where else is there to go? Remake and adapt from books. Thank God for Indie films.
